Velvet Vibes Records

Website & Visual identity

Velvet Vibes Records (fictional) is an innovative and independent record label that embraces a fusion of genres and a passion for diverse music. With a focus on R&B, rap, funk, neo-soul and electronic music, I aimed to express the company’s identity through a unique and engaging website that reflects its modern yet retro-inspired aesthetic.

Design process

The project began with a research phase where inspiration was drawn from instrument silhouettes, festival aesthetics and modern web trends. After creating a sitemap and several sketches for layout and logo, the prototype was built in Figma. Iterations were made continuously, and user testing was used to refine the design.

The logo was developed to stand out among other record labels and strengthen the brand’s distinctive character. To ensure readability, tests were carried out and the logo was adjusted based on feedback.

The color scheme combines muted tones with neon pink and green accents to reflect passion, energy and growth. The layout was designed to balance a lively background with open sections and clear visual hierarchies, creating an easy-to-navigate experience. Adobe Firefly was used together with Photoshop to generate images for the album covers of each artist

The prototype was also adapted for mobile, with a simplified version that maintains the label’s image and usability. This adaptation included features such as the ability to display albums in different ways, giving users more flexibility.

Results

The final prototype represents Velvet Vibes Records as a dynamic and passionate brand. The website is intuitive and engaging, with artist campaign pages that reflect their unique styles. Feedback from user testing showed that the site was easy to navigate, and adjustments such as adding a back arrow improved the user experience further.

Reflection

The project was a valuable learning experience within digital design and user-centered development. The most important insights came from iterative user testing and the importance of balancing creativity with functionality. If the project were to be redone, further user testing with industry stakeholders would be integrated earlier in the process to create an even more user-adapted design.
